Beach Day Coffee opened in 2015 at 7 Broadway, under the WorldMark, across from the Promenade Inn. The beans come from Astoria. The pastry comes from the shop.

The shop’s own site used to greet you with a line about no day at the beach being complete without the cup. The location almost makes the boast true. Seven Broadway, under the WorldMark, across from the Promenade Inn, a few steps from the Turnaround. Family-owned since 2015. Columbia River Coffee Roasters in the grinder. A La Marzocco on the bar. Muffins, scones, croissants, and cookies from the same room.

Journey here

The public record does not hand us the owners’ names the way Phillips and the Chocolate Cafe do, and we will not mint some. What the shop publishes is simpler: authentic coastal quality since 2015, local roasts, pastry made in-house, family owned for over a decade. seasideor.com put them on the walkable-from-downtown list specifically for people who wanted locally roasted coffee after a beach walk. The White Rocket — white espresso, more caffeine than the walk requires — is the drink visitors remember to ask for.

A normal day

Early. The old site said Monday through Friday eight to four and weekends seven to six; the current listings start closer to six and run into evening in summer. The pastry is the other register. Reviewers who are hard on the coffee are often soft on the cinnamon roll. Kathy C., on MapQuest, said the sweet treats were some of the best she’d had, freshly baked, and the coffee used Columbia River beans and was “always right on.” That is the day: beach traffic, the machine, the tray.

A customer moment

The customer is the person who did not want to walk to Holladay in a wetsuit. They want the cup, the bun, and the Prom still in sight. The shop’s catering line is for the other customer: a meeting that wants to look like a beach day.

What visitors should know

It is the closest shop to the Prom, which is both a recommendation and a warning about the line. Beans are roasted in Astoria, not in this room. Pastry is. If you want a White Rocket, say the words. If you want a quiet table and a yearbook, that is Seaside Coffee House, a few blocks inland.
