Hood to Coast finishes in Seaside on August 28 and 29. For the town it is not a race. It is a two-day change of weather.

They have been running since Mount Hood. Seaside only sees the last of it: vans on 101, legs on the Prom, a finish line that turns the Turnaround into a chute. The Providence Hood and Portland to Coast Relays are in year forty-four. Twenty thousand people, fifty states, more than forty countries. The beach is the point they have been aiming at for a hundred and ninety-six miles.

What you’ll experience
On the ground
Friday August 28 and Saturday August 29, 2026. The Hood course is the long one; Portland to Coast is the shorter daylight cousin. Dan Floyd, speaking for the race, told Your Oregon News the event is on track to raise more than a million dollars in a single year for the Providence Cancer Institute, and more than $10.5 million since 2013, all of it staying in Oregon. The Chamber has been selling commemorative coins, struck by Beach Bum Lazer Designs, with a plan to repeat the idea for volleyball and Yuletide. For Broadway the business math is simpler than the charity math: every room sold, every extra cook, every shop that stays open for a van that still has a cooler. The last mile is the one the town actually hosts.
“We’re on track to raise over $1 million for the first time in the race’s history for the Providence Cancer Institute. This brings the total raised for Providence to over $10.5 million since being named the charity of choice in 2013.”
For Seaside it is not a race. It is a two-day change of weather.
